31/03/2015

Martin Morrison, managing director of Oxfordshire-based Axicon Auto ID, has been elected a member of the prestigious AIDC 100 organisation.  AIDC 100 is a global association of experts in the field of automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) which aims to increase the business world’s knowledge and understanding of AIDC technology.

“I was surprised and delighted to receive this membership,” said Martin Morrison, “To be elected by the men and women who have really made AIDC happen is a real honour, and much appreciated.”

The members of AIDC 100 include the inventors of several barcode symbologies, the developers of the first barcode scanners, and others who have furthered the growth and advance of the industry.  Martin has been a major contributor to the development of global AIDC standards, and has designed and developed barcode verification equipment that is industry-leading in its ease-of-use and consistent accuracy.

Examples of AIDC include the use of barcodes and barcode scanners, radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, biometric identification, magnetic stripe cards, smart cards, and 2D barcodes for use with smartphones.

Axicon celebrates ten years of American success

Ten years ago Axicon established an American base in Cincinnati to serve its customers in both North and South America, and it has been a resounding success.  “We have always had a strong customer base in Europe, the Far East and Australia,” explained Martin Morrison, managing director of Axicon, “and our American customers now account for over a sixth of our global sales.  It is good to know that the quality of our UK-made ISO/IEC compliant barcode verifiers is really appreciated where barcodes first originated.”

Axicon Auto ID has customers worldwide, in all the continents except Antarctica.

15000 Linear & 2D Barcode Verifier

Axicon announce the launch of a new 1D/2D barcode verifier. The 15000 verifier has been specifically designed to read both linear and 2D barcodes (and can verify multiple barcode within the field of view).

The 15000 is a camera based verifier which is powered solely from a USB port. Its typical application includes retail point of sale barcodes and also 2D barcodes such as Datamatrix, QR etc. The 15000 verifier meets the ISO/ANSI/GS1 verification standards.

“We are delighted to introduce the new Axicon 15000 Linear and 2D barcode verifier” said Martin Morrison, managing director of Axicon Auto ID Ltd. “Our customers want to be able to verify the printed quality of 2D symbols, whether they are used for improved pharmaceutical traceability or for marketing purposes”. More information on the new 1D/2D verifier can be found here.
